The Harmony Family Dental team believes in starting children on their oral health journey at a young age to ensure a lifetime of good oral care. Following the Canadian Dental Association’s advice, we recommend children have a dental assessment by one year of age or within 6 months of their first tooth eruption, whichever comes first. We are pleased to provide complimentary “Happy Visits” for children under the age of 3, which offers a positive introduction to the dental environment and procedures, and helps children feel comfortable with the entire dental office experience now and in the future.
If you notice that your child snores, it is important to address the issue promptly to ensure their well-being. Start by observing their sleep patterns and consulting with a pediatrician or otolaryngologist (ENT specialist). Persistent snoring in children can sometimes indicate underlying health concerns such as sleep apnea, enlarged tonsils or adenoids, allergies or respiratory infections. Your healthcare provider may recommend lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule or improving sleep hygiene. In some cases, further evaluation or treatments such as a functional oral appliance, adenotonsillectomy or continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy may be necessary to manage sleep-disordered breathing and promote better sleep quality for your child.
